Job Description
We are recruiting a suitably qualified and experienced Head Coach to lead our men’s performance squad for the 2019/20 season onwards.
The men’s 1’s squad currently includes a mix of senior and junior players who play in the Verde Recreo West & South Wales Premiership. The squad is targeting 1st place in this division to secure a return to the England Hockey MHL.
The squad participated in the England Hockey MHL in 2007/08 and also in 2017/18 and wish to return to that level of hockey.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the continued success and development of all aspects of technical and performance delivery for this squad and also the men’s 2nd team squad who currently play in the Championship division.
You will have relevant hockey experience together with a current DBS disclosure and First Aid Certificate. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and relevant experience in the following areas:
• tactical knowledge to deliver results
• planning specific sessions to maximise contact time
• coaching science and best practice
• athlete preparation
• performance analysis
We are looking for an ambitious coach with a winning mentality underpinned by a high level of motivation. You’ll be eager to embrace a learning environment and continue to develop your own coaching capability. The squad trains twice each week and competes at w/ends. It is expected the Head Coach will be at all sessions and all 1st team matches.

• coaching, developing, motivating and empowering others
• working collaboratively within a team as well as autonomously
• setting standards that encourages everyone to achieve improved performances
• effective man management skills
You will be an effective communicator, with the ability to engage, consult, liaise and influence, colleagues and athletes and show an understanding of appropriate professional relationships with athletes and staff.
