The M1s travelled to the middle of nowhere (Ashmoor) in confident mood following some strong training sessions and a lesson from the M2s in how to put the ball in the goal.

With a couple of new faces in the squad and some far too old ones we went about our business on the worlds bobbliest pitch – no joke.

Bobbles, 50/50 decisions, an angry – green carded skipper and a pinch of poor play left us 3-0 down with just 15 minutes to spare, a mountain to climb but one that we knew we had in us if we could just get out of 2nd gear!

The call was to go for it, pressing Ashmoor hard and forcing them into mistakes, it worked a treat! Strong play down the left found Toby Rowlings in space on the baseline and with a great cross he found a diving Jamie at the back post. 3-1.. game on!

Minutes later a quick counter attack following a midfield turnover resulted in a central free hit just outside the 25. Sharp movement from Kinger and a disguised pass from Jamie saw the ball deflected into the goal. 3-2 and we were really ticking.

Ashmoor clung on for dear life through a few penalty corners, one of which happily fell to Micah in space who cooly slotted the ball home to bring us back level pegging. Ashmoor, wondering what had hit them and Robbies thirsty for more and with a little time on the clock. The time was played out with a couple more chances at either end but the scoreboard was unaffected. Final score 3-3 and both teams rightly shared the points.

DOD goes to Jamie for getting carded and then suggesting that the umpire should pay his fine.

MOM went to Max for a quality display at the back.

A strong start to the second half of the season, always good to pick up points on the road.
