Another big game beckoned for the Ladies’ 2s with a local Derby against Firebrands.

With Clifton needing points to climb up the table and Firebrands needing a win to stay in the promotion race it was set to be a tense game.

Both teams came out strong with a number of chances in the first half. Two goals in the first quarter meant the score was level at 1-1 with captain Jules Gardener scoring from a straight strike on a PC.

Firebrands were more clinical in the 2nd quarter scoring two goals. This left the score at half-time 3-1 to Firebrands.

Clifton had nothing to lose and in the first 2 minute of the second half Meg Crowson scored a strike from the top of the D. With pressure mounting for both teams, Clifton continued towards goal and a deflection from Carla Dunnett meant the teams were all square 3-3 going into the 4th and final quarter.

With both teams wanting more than just a point the game was end to end. A PC was awarded to firebrands in the last minutes; Firebrands took this opportunity and, with almost the flick of the game scored leaving the final score at 4-3 to Firebrands. We fight on next week!
