The Clifton Robinsons W1s were excited to play East Grinstead on home turf on Saturday.

The match kicked off with EG in possession however Clifton’s press quickly put them under a lot of pressure and dispossessed them. With momentum on their side, Clifton’s Ellie Laity scored an early goal putting them 1-0 up.

The home side was playing amazingly, with some great build up play and some aggressive pressing, which lead to another goal – this time converted by Catherine Macaulay.

The half time whistle sounded and Clifton were winning 2-0, but EG weren’t giving up, putting some pressure on the home side in the second half. Clifton, however, reacted well to this, and some solid defence gave opportunities to counter – leading to another goal deflected in by Livvy Hoskins.

EG responded to this with a goal, and despite some good attacking movements couldn’t score again, leaving the final score as 3-1 to Clifton. A huge win, a first since Christmas which should give the team a boost before the final 2 games.
