2/10/21: Basingstoke 1- 1 CRHC

On an extremely wet and windy day Clifton Robinsons L2’s travelled to Basingstoke. Having only played once before due to Covid it was likely to be a tightly contested game. Clifton defended well throughout the first quarter; the teams were well matched and it ended 0-0. Soon into the second quarter, however, Basingstoke made a number of passes around the D leading to a close range shot on target and a 1-0 lead to the …

25/9/21: CRHC 1 – 2 Cheltenham

Clifton Robinsons L2 opened their season last weekend in an away fixture vs Cheltenham, having only played each other a couple of weeks previously during preseason. In the past, the fixtures have always been closely contested so it was always due to be a exciting game. Clifton Robinsons had a solid start with many making their debuts for the club as well as a few new faces to National League. Both teams created some early …

9/10/21: Holcombe 1 – 1 CRHC

After a long journey up to Holcombe, the Clifton Robinsons Ladies 1s were happy that the sun was shining for their fourth league match this season. The game started with Clifton on the front foot, but a slick counter attack from Holcombe lead to the first goal and the home side being 1-0 up. Some end to end hockey and some great attacking and defending from both teams meant the game was still 1-0 with …

2/10/21: CRHC 1 – 3 Hampstead & Westminster

Clifton Robinsons vs Hampstead and Westminster started off with an end to end battle in the first half at Coombe Dingle in the rain. Both teams had some close efforts but neither team could find the back of the net and the second half was all to play for. The first goal of the match came from a penalty flick for Hampstead which was scored by Lauren Turner. This lead to a run of solid …

25/9/21: Buckingham 1 – 1 CRHC

After a long journey to Stowe School, the second match of the season started slowly for Clifton Robinsons, with Buckingham converting a penalty corner in the 1st quarter to bring them one goal ahead. Shortly after that, however, Clifton reacted with a smooth ball into the D from the right hand side delivered by Abi Porter and a sublime backhanded deflection into the roof of the net from Carla Dunnett. At half-time the game was …

18/9/21: CRHC 2 – 2 Surbiton HC

After 10 months of no Premier League hockey, Clifton Robinsons L1’s returned to a sunny Coombe Dingle at last, taking on reigning league champions Surbiton. After a slightly delayed start due to traffic on the M4, Alice Wills opened the scoring for Surbiton in the sixth minute before Catherine Macaulay equalised through a well timed deflection for the hosts early into the second quarter (check out Smifsports for an epic celebration photo!) Macaulay was then …

3/10/21: Cardiff Uni 2 – 4 CRHC

The M1s travelled to Cardiff Uni feeling confident following a good performance in the first game of the season against Ashmoor. At the self proclaimed ‘home of hockey’ we went into battle in the rain. For the first quarter Clifton Robinsons tried out a new way of playing and it completely backfired with holes in the press being exploited quickly and we soon found ourselves 2-0 down and wondering what we were up to. A …

26/9/21: CRHC 2 – 1 Ashmoor HC

On a warm September afternoon Clifton Robinson’s made their eagerly anticipated return to the Men’s National League. In front of a packed Stade De Clifton College the game started at a frenetic pace with Ashmoor applying early pressure, Clifton looking slightly nervy with many new faces making their club debuts. That trend continued into the 2nd quarter, with Ashmoor creating numerous D penetrations and a resulting short corner narrowly missing the target. Clifton showed flickers …
