After a long Christmas break the W2s sprung back into action in January and were raring to go for their first league match on the 5th Feb vs Cheltenham. End-to-end hockey made chances for both sides, in an evenly matched game that could have gone either way.

In the first quarter a Short corner was awarded to Cheltenham within the first minute, but saved by the goalie. A short corner for CRHC towards the end of the Quarter gave a chance at a goal but it was well defended.

Pressure was increasing on both teams in the second quarter with a number of chances missed by both sides, 0-0 at half time.

Mounting pressure from Clifton led to a penalty flick being awarded in the third quarter. A good save from the Cheltenham keeper kept a penalty flick out leaving the score at 0-0. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, as 13 minutes in Cheltenham made a break for the match to finish 1–0 against us. With players returning from injury, the squad is stronger than ever and, despite the loss, the girls showed their best team performance so far. There is every reason to be positive for the rest of the season!
