One of the only matches able to go ahead during the weekend of stormy weather, Clifton Robinsons Ladies’ 2s travelled to Wales for their next league game.

With the two teams being close in the league it was a highly competitive game.

Clifton started well with mounting pressure leading to a short corner in the last minute of the 1st quarter. Jules Gardner scored from the PC 1-0 Clifton. Penarth came fighting back in the second quarter with two goals in quick succession both from penalty corners. Penarth went into half time 2-1 up.

Both teams had a number of circle entries with Penarth winning another penalty corner in the 40th minute. Following on from earlier in the game they were successful in scoring a 3rd goal, 3-1 Penarth. Clifton continued to put pressure on Penarth which led to a save from a outfield player on the goal line. Again Jules Gardner stepped up to take the flick and scored 3-2 to Penarth.

With nothing to lose in the 4th quarter Clifton Robinsons came out strong with a want to score two further goals to take the lead. The game opened up and Penarth were able to secure a 4th goal leading to the final score Penarth 4 Clifton 2. A tightly fought game with the score line not reflecting the matched teams, Clifton go into a double header next weekend with EXE away and Basingstoke at home.
