Clifton Robinsons started their 2022/23 Premier League campaign at home against Holcombe. Clifton started the game strongly, applying pressure on Holcombe which resulted in 2 penalty corners early on but were unfortunate to not convert.

Holcombe came out strong in the second quarter demonstrating good counter threat and at times testing Clifton’s back line. However, Clifton countered this well gaining their first goal with a cross from Catherine Macaulay and Eloise Laity deflecting it in on the far post.

Going into the second half, Holcombe showed good skill getting good ball in Clifton’s defensive half; the Clifton defence held strong. In response, some good team play in the final quarter of the pitch resulted in another goal from Amy Burton.

Clifton produced some good attacking threats entering the D six times and winning two PCs in the final quarter, but an excellent save from the Holcombe keeper denied Livvy Hoskins a third goal for Clifton. The game ended 2-0, a great start for the Bristol side with strong performances from both old and news faces in the team.
